x64 Computing

Well..... my curiosity got the best of me and here I am at the edge of the next step of computing. The past couple of weeks I contemplated installing the x64 version of Windows Vista. There was obviously some apprehension, for very good reasons needless to say.

• I have a MacBook Air (First Generation)
  
• Limited Hard Drive Capacity
  
• Unknown driver support because Apple doesn't directly support Vista x64 for the MacBook Air.

So I did a little bit of reading online and found there are those on the net who published blogs saying they successfully installed Vista x64 on their Air. So, I figured why not give it a try? I did run into driver problems but found a way around it. Here are the steps if anybody is interested. Don't forget you will need an external DVD drive.

• Use Boot Camp in OS X to partition your drive
  
• Boot into the x64 install DVD and select the correct partition you created in Boot Camp, format it, and install Vista
  
• When Vista boots for the first time place your Mac OS X Install Disc 1 in the drive. Don't run the autoplay for it will say the following, "x64 is not supported on this hardware". Explore the contents of the DVD and open the drivers folder. Inside the folder you will find the x64 setup executable. Run the x64 executable and unlock the magic.


• Once that process is complete run all necessary updates and enjoy!

OBAMA 08!

So, there I was..... I just stepped out of my car and a suspicious looking package was sitting in my house waiting for my arrival as for my wife had already retrieved it and placed the package in a safe place.  I was suprised to see the package.  It was of awkward shape.....  At first I was baffled......  Why the elongated awkward shape?  Why so light in weight?  I ordered something?  Low and behold my Obama Biden yard sign showed up!  Finally, I was really excited and couldn't wait to display it!  I took a picture of it because I have striking a feeling it won't last long in my lawn.  There are McCain supporters who would like to see it "disappear".........

The Week

Well its been a rough semester so far and I am glad to report that my compiler phase 2 was completed on time.  Learning the intricacies of compiling assembly language has been a interesting and sometimes frustrating experience.  This weekend is not going to be as productive as I was hoping because of my weekend drill time.  Yet another week comes to an end tomorrow and the semester ticks on.  Maybe some Command and Conquer action or RockBand jam time is in order!
